Artist and tutor Ronald Peters founded the Bankstown Art Society in 1958,
making it one of the oldest in Sydney. In its spacious, well-lit studios on the
first floor of the Arts and Craft Centre in Bankstown, the society provides art
classes in all mediums, catering for beginners to advanced, including classes
for children.
Other activities include monthly demonstration by well-known artists,
weekly workshops and exhibitions of members’ artworks in the De Haan Gallery,
outdoor painting and social outings.
Demonstrations are held on the last Friday of the month at 1pm [except January,
September & December]. Cost $5.00 [includes afternoon tea & lucky door prize.]

The De Haan Gallery is open to the public free of charge. Ongoing exhibitions
of Members artworks are on display Tuesday, Wednesday, & Thursday 10am –1pm or
