Liz of the Outback

Sydney based painter Liz Cuming has just returned from her fifth trip around Central Australia in 15 months, however this most recent trip was an adventure with a difference. Responding to countless requests, Liz organized a group of colleagues to share costs and embark on a two week trip which included not only plenty of painting time in amazing landscape locations, but a visit the arts centre at remote Yuendumu, an introduction to safe 4wd travel, and plenty of contact with knowledgeable locals.

Unlike most painting trips, this trip was accommodated – in self-contained apartments in Alice Springs, and motel units at Glen Helen, and surprisingly ended up not costing more than those which offer camping. The group had such a good time most participants have put their hand up to repeat the experience, so Liz feels there is an opening to run further trips, with the benefit of valuable contacts in Alice.
