CREATIVE PAPER - Tasmania

The rugged north west coast of Tasmania is home to Creative Paper's Hand Made Paper Mill.

Creative Paper started life in the Makers' Workshop in Burnie in the early 1990's. As part of an unemployment support program, Darren Simpson learnt the rare trade of a papermaker, rising to the position of Senior Papermaker.

Now located in Wyndham, Creative Paper is Australia's largest hand made paper mill, producing a large array of fine rag and hemp papers (including the magnificent glass finished smooth rag papers).

Also created are papers including plant fibres, unique and unusual papers made from Roo Poo, Wombat Poo, Forest Floor, Bull dung and many others.

Darren takes pride in producing papers that are made from cotton textile waste, industrial hemp fibre and papers that include a range of plant fibres. Creative Papers is community focused and works alongside other local businesses and artists to provide a more eco friendly product.
